As automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers accelerate the adoption of seamless, touch-enabled illuminated interior surfaces, overcoming manufacturing challenges is becoming critical to bringing smart surface technologies from concept to high-volume production.
To address these challenges, MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions has expanded its XMAPP Technology Partner Program through a new engineering partnership with Lynctek, a specialist with more than 20 years of experience in automotive film insert molding (FIM).
MacDermid Alpha and Lynctek will work together to validate the FIM processes that have demonstrated yield improvements exceeding 20% for automotive functional and back lit interior components. These processes will then be used to help minimize defects, reduce production costs and accelerate PPAP approval timelines.
The collaboration centers on MacDermid Alpha’s XtraForm hardcoated, formable films, a foundation of XMAPP Technology that enables complex three-dimensional geometries for automotive-qualified smart surfaces. Lynctek strengthens the program with advanced design phase engineering capabilities, including feasibility assessments, design for manufacturability guidance and turnkey FIM workstation solutions.
“Through our XMAPP partnership, we are now able to scale proven FIM processes globally, enabling higher yields and more reliable production for in-mold electronics applications,” said Lifeng Wang, managing director of Lynctek. “For more than two decades, we have specialized in film insert molding for automotive smart surfaces, consistently delivering yields that meet aggressive cost and quality targets.”
