Hyundai Motor has unveiled Pleos Connect, a next-generation in-vehicle infotainment system designed around usability, safety and connectivity. The platform combines a mobile-style user interface with AI-based features and will support over-the-air software updates for ongoing feature and performance improvements.

The system will debut on the new Grandeur in Korea in May, followed by a phased global rollout, including the recently unveiled Ioniq 3 in Europe. The group aims to equip approximately 20 million Hyundai Motor, Kia and Genesis vehicles with Pleos Connect by 2030, reinforcing its leadership in future mobility solutions.

“Pleos Connect is a next-generation infotainment system that offers customers an elevated mobility experience by combining a mobile-friendly platform with advanced AI technology. With the new Gleo AI and an open app market, users will experience the limitless potential of future mobility,” said Jongwon Lee, senior vice president and head of the feature and CCS sub-division at Hyundai Motor Group.

The solution’s user experience was developed through driver behavior research conducted by the company’s UX studios in Seoul, Korea; Irvine, California; Frankfurt, Germany; and Shanghai, China, with an interface designed to resemble familiar mobile device interactions and help reduce driver distraction.

The cockpit features two main displays: a large central screen and a slim driver display. The central screen is divided into sections for driving information, navigation, media and third-party applications, with options for single-screen or split-screen viewing and quick access to frequently used apps. The slim display, positioned in front of the driver, presents key information such as speed, media and navigation directions.

The system also includes physical buttons on the steering wheel and below the central display for commonly used controls, alongside gesture-based functions designed to simplify interaction with in-vehicle applications and reduce touchscreen use while driving.

“Pleos Connect is a platform born from our deep commitment to understanding customers’ mobility experiences. Even after launch, we will continue to listen closely to diverse customer voices and strive to design in-vehicle experiences that further enrich the value of mobility,” added Changsub Kim, senior research engineer, UX strategy team at Hyundai Motor Group.

The navigation system in Pleos Connect has been further developed since its initial unveiling to improve usability, efficiency and simplicity. The production-ready version was introduced on April 29 as the mass-production evolution of the concept previously presented at the Group’s Pleos 25 developer conference in 2025.

User experience

The navigation system in Pleos Connect has been redesigned based on analysis of navigation use data, with the interface simplified around frequently used functions.

The display layout is now flexible, enabling users to customize the screen and run navigation alongside other applications.

Real-time navigation updates are supported through live traffic data from connected vehicles, enabling continuously updated routing and guidance based on current road conditions.

“Navigation delivers a better mobility experience when complexity is reduced. Guided by this philosophy, the Pleos Connect navigation system has been newly designed to be easy and intuitive for everyone to use, enabling our customers to enjoy an even more convenient and seamless journey.” said Hanna Yun, research engineer, navigation development team at Hyundai Motor Group.

Gleo AI

At the core of Pleos Connect is Gleo AI, a voice assistant powered by a large language model. It is currently focused on vehicle controls and convenience functions, with plans for continued development even after mass-production rollout.

Future updates are expected to expand integration with third-party applications, enabling users to access a wider range of services through voice commands. The system is also being developed to support more personalized features based on individual driver behavior and preferences.

“Gleo AI is an intelligent AI agent that engages in natural conversation like a companion in the passenger seat, understanding user intent and making holistic, context‑aware judgments. Going forward, Gleo AI will continue to evolve with more advanced personalized services, helping deliver a more enjoyable and convenient mobility experience for customers,” explained Jongho Lee, team lead of the Gleo AI Group at 42dot.
