Panasonic Automotive Systems says its new in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) system is now being used in the 2026 Toyota RAV4. The system aims to improve the driving experience by offering faster performance, more personalized features and up-to-date connectivity for information and entertainment.
The company built a large-scale software framework for its IVI system; it integrates with Arene, Toyota’s development platform created by Woven by Toyota. The companies are continuing to collaborate to support the development of software platforms that enable the adoption of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) across Toyota’s vehicle line-up.
IVI software advances
The IVI software integrates with the Arene software platform, first adopted by Toyota in the RAV4. This enables the product to serve as a hub for over-the-air (OTA) updates for multimedia and ADAS features. This is essential for SDV adoption.
Advanced UX and ADAS integration
The product builds on existing capabilities, including smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with wireless connectivity; support for digital radio and Bluetooth audio; and user authentication and voice UI enabled through smartphone and cloud integration.
Beyond personalized experiences, the system supports vehicle comfort and usability through connected features such as temperature control, cloud-based navigation and faster, more enhanced voice recognition. In addition, safety is enhanced through the ADAS-integrated camera recording function.
High-definition display
A large, high-definition display integrates navigation and temperature control into a single user interface. LCD bonding technology and a space-saving design combine aesthetics and utility.
