TactoTek partners with LurexX to expand IMSE capabilities for automotive lighting and smart surfaces.

TactoTek has announced a licensing partnership with LurexX Optical, a German technology consulting and development company specializing in optical simulation and the design of advanced optical components. Under the agreement, LurexX will integrate TactoTek’s injection-molded structural electronics (IMSE) technology into its engineering portfolio.

The partnership expands the IMSE ecosystem with additional expertise in optical system design, light simulation, validation and measurement. LurexX will support customers from early concept development through to series production, helping to optimize the performance of lighting functions integrated into IMSE-based structures.

IMSE technology enables the integration of lighting, touch controls, electrical components and circuitry directly into three-dimensional molded surfaces. By replacing traditional multicomponent assemblies with structural electronics, the technology allows the creation of lightweight, ultra-thin smart surfaces that combine lighting and functional controls while reducing assembly complexity and system cost.

The technology is increasingly used to integrate lighting features such as dynamic surface illumination and light lines into interior trim and interface surfaces. LurexX’s optical simulation capabilities enable the digital calculation and optimization of lighting performance at the early stages of development, reportedly helping to ensure efficient and uniform illumination in IMSE-based designs.

“We are excited about this partnership with TactoTek,” said Peter Nagy, director of LurexX Optical. “IMSE technology gives us a powerful, state-of-the-art solution to offer for our customers, particularly in lighting applications, where conventional technical approaches reach their limits. With our expertise in optical simulation and illuminated component design, we can maximize the efficiency of IMSE technology and reliably validate even highly complex concepts for demanding automotive and industrial requirements.”

Stefan Tschugmell, senior vice president of global sales and business development at TactoTek, added, “We are pleased to welcome LurexX Optical to the growing IMSE ecosystem. Their specialized optical expertise strengthens the ecosystem in a very concrete way. IMSE technology itself enables designers to combine form and function more freely. With LurexX’s capability to demonstrate a clear pathway from digital concept to scalable, high-performance lighting solutions, customers gain confidence early in development and a competitive advantage when bringing IMSE-based applications to market in a timely manner.”
