Two Chinese OEM models are to become the first equipped with Adient‘s latest mechanical massage seat – the ProForce Massage Flow – which builds on the ProForce platform launched by the seating supplier last year. Incorporating core technologies from the Flow seat that are mass‑production‑validated, the new seating solution combines enhanced fatigue relief and seating comfort with scalable, modular integration capabilities, giving OEMs more flexibility and improving development efficiency.
To give greater massage coverage, the Flow version features new moving modules that reach key fatigue-prone lower back muscle groups. Multiple massage techniques, including kneading, tapping and rolling, can be applied individually or in combination, enabling a more dynamic and customizable massage experience.
This platform-based, modular design enables spring mounted installation with broad compatibility across different seat frame platforms. The solution supports both front and rear seats, including seats with integrated ABS, helping OEMs shorten development cycles. Available in two-head and four-head modules, it supports flexible spec configurations based on vehicle positioning. Multiple massage variants can be deployed on the same platform, improving development efficiency.
Pierre-Alain Caillault, VP of engineering, EMEA, Adient, said, “ProForce fundamentally redefines seat massage performance. By moving beyond traditional pneumatic bladder concepts, it enables more controlled, reproducible and ergonomic stimulation – resulting in noticeably improved comfort and a premium user experience.”
Core technologies carried over from the earlier Focus solution include Adient’s ProForce Massage tech, which according to the company delivers much higher force than pneumatic systems; a multistage collapsible mechanism that enables the massage heads to retract in the event of a collision and automatically reset afterward; and a special design that facilitates seamless integration with lumbar support, ventilation and heating functions. It also adopts the same wear-resistant upholstery materials.
