General Motors is introducing a new user interface with updated graphics, simplified layouts and integrated intelligence for the vehicle cabin.

The user interface will debut on the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and 2027 GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks, and is built as a single scalable foundation that can extend across electric-, gas- and diesel-powered vehicles.

BMW has announced that its 3D Maps will combine navigation, the vehicle’s surroundings and driver assistance information into a single view for BMW vehicles equipped with Operating System X, starting in October 2026. The integrated display will show how the vehicle perceives its surroundings and whether assistance functions are supporting the driver, from complex situations in city traffic to hands-free assisted driving on the highway.

The feature combines route guidance, the vehicle’s surroundings and driver assistance information, which enables drivers to see not only the next navigation step, but also how the vehicle perceives its surroundings and which assistance functions are supporting the driving task.

Volvo has updated the XC40, EX40 and EC40 with changes ranging from exterior and interior design to infotainment, advanced driver assistance and active safety.

Marelli and Microchip Technology have announced a solution that enables graphics and video content generated by a vehicle’s central computer to be streamed directly to automotive displays using ASA Motion Link (ASA-ML), an open standard for automotive video connectivity.

The demonstrator is designed to simplify display architectures, optimize system costs and increase sourcing flexibility while supporting the transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

ASA Motion Link is an open standard for automotive video connectivity and SerDes (serializer-deserializer) communication, defined by the Automotive SerDes Alliance (ASA), a consortium of vehicle manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers and semiconductor companies.

The standard enables high-speed video and graphics transmission across products from multiple technology providers, supporting interoperability and providing an alternative to proprietary video transmission technologies.

Harman International has announced that Dr Thomas Irawan will join the company on October 1, 2026, as chief operating officer and president designate, Harman Automotive.

In this new role, Dr Irawan will provide operational leadership for Harman Automotive, overseeing the division’s day-to-day execution and business performance. He will also become a member of Harman’s senior leadership team.

Christian Sobottka, Harman chief executive officer and president, Harman Automotive, will continue to serve as president of the company, leading the division’s long-term strategy, major transformation initiatives, the planned integration of the ZF ADAS business following closing, as well as strategic customer and partner relationships.

Alps Alpine has launched the SPVQK Series, an automotive detector switch designed to support the growing adoption of 48V electrical architectures in next-generation EVs. The product reportedly ensures reliable switching performance under demanding electrical conditions and simplifies circuit design.

With a maximum rated voltage of 52V DC, the SPVQK Series can be used directly in 48V electrical systems without requiring voltage conversion circuitry.

The SPVQK Series withstands up to 3A peak (C-load), providing significantly greater robustness during switching. Its newly developed contact structure minimizes contact wear and degradation, ensuring stable electrical performance and long-term reliability. In addition, external current-limiting components, such as chip resistors previously required for circuit protection, are no longer necessary.

The digital hub of the new Škoda Peaq, the auto maker’s flagship seven-seater SUV, is a modern 13.6in Android-based infotainment system with a vertically mounted display – a first for a Škoda model. The Peaq, which went into production in August in the Czech Republic, also features an optional new sound system developed in collaboration with Sonos.

The vertically mounted display offers a redesigned interface and home screen with a clear grid layout compared with the previous generation. Expanded personalization options and favourites support intuitive operation, while Global Search, accessible directly from the top of the infotainment screen, enables users to search settings, applications and content across the entire system from a single search bar.

Materials specialist Polyblend has announced a €4m (US$4.6m) final investment decision (FID) to convert an existing production line at its site in Bad Sobernheim, Germany, for compounds incorporating mechanically recycled materials. The investment supports the company’s goal of strengthening polymer circularity as it prepares for a future of greater sustainability regulation.

Polyblend is a TotalEnergies company, and creates specialist acrylic and PVC plastisols that are a variety of industries, including automotive.

The project involves expanding an existing production line to manufacture a new generation of recycled compounds designed to meet growing market demand for sustainable solutions.
