Harman has announced new safety capabilities for the latest generation of its Ready Care and Ready Aware products, combining in-cabin monitoring with external awareness to support improved safety performance and NCAP requirements. Using production-ready software, scalable connectivity and vehicle-grade hardware, Harman enables OEMs to deploy integrated safety systems designed for current deployment and future scalability across connected vehicle platforms.
“The future of automotive safety depends on sight beyond sight – vehicles that can sense, interpret and respond to both human and road conditions in real time and deliver the right support without adding distraction,” said Suman Sehra, vice president, connectivity portfolio management at Harman. “Harman is uniquely positioned to deliver that holistic awareness by combining in-cabin intelligence, real-time connectivity and vehicle-grade platforms that are ready to ship at scale, helping OEMs move from concept to deployment while advancing toward a zero accident future.”
Ready Care is designed to deliver more precise and actionable in-cabin intelligence while operating on existing OEM hardware. It combines advanced driver monitoring with proactive interventions to support driver safety, comfort and well-being. Recent enhancements include single-heartbeat detection for improved vital sign measurement and enhanced occupant-position monitoring to support safer airbag deployment, providing clearer insight into occupant location, condition and when vehicle intervention may be needed.
Ready Aware extends safety beyond the vehicle by providing timely, contextual alerts to help drivers anticipate road hazards and navigate complex intersections. It operates without additional hardware, using existing cloud and 4G/5G connectivity through a vehicle-to-network (V2N) architecture. A new machine learning-based confidence engine improves alert accuracy and reduces false alerts, helping limit information overload and ensuring drivers receive relevant, actionable information without added interaction.
Together, Ready Care and Ready Aware aim help OEMs advance safety and driver assistance roadmaps, including NCAP-oriented feature strategies, while keeping deployment practical and scalable.
Ready Connect underpins these safety systems as Harman’s telematics control unit platform, providing the in-vehicle connectivity needed to support real-time awareness beyond the vehicle. It enables safety applications such as Ready Aware to deliver timely, contextual insights through a unified architecture that supports short-range, long-range and satellite communications. Designed to scale across regions and vehicle platforms, Ready Connect provides a production-ready connectivity foundation for deploying integrated safety solutions such as Ready Care and Ready Aware.
