Tata Motors and Dolby Laboratories have partnered to bring the Dolby Atmos experience to the Harrier.ev, offering a multidimensional sound experience

Dolby Atmos is an audio technology designed to create immersive music experiences that enable greater clarity and depth in music playback. Harrier.ev owners and passengers will be able to listen to songs and podcasts available in Dolby Atmos through built-in compatible apps such as Gaana and Audible, accessible via the Arcade.ev app store integrated into the vehicle’s infotainment system.

Dolby Atmos leverages the fixed speaker placements and optimized seating arrangements in the vehicle and is designed to transform the cabin into an immersive audio space. The Harrier.ev  features 10 speakers with Harman’s JBL Black audio system and four 6.5in speakers, four tweeters on the front and rear doors, a mid-range speaker on the dashboard, and a deep bass subwoofer in the trunk area. It also has an eight-channel amplifier.

Karan Grover, senior director, commercial partnerships, IMEA, Dolby Laboratories, said, “At Dolby, we are committed to transforming in-car entertainment by working closely with OEM partners to bring premium audio experiences to consumers. Our goal is to make every trip more than just a drive but an amazing auditory journey that brings users to the center of the entertainment they love. By combining Dolby Atmos with Tata Motors’ drive for excellence, we’re redefining how entertainment is experienced on the road with richer and more dynamic sound that moves all around you. As we deepen our presence in India’s automotive space, we will continue to push boundaries of the in-car audio experience, ensuring exceptional entertainment on the go.”

Anand Kulkarni, chief products officer, head of HV programs and customer service, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, Tata Motors, added, “At Tata Motors, we consistently work toward introducing features that are not just best-in-class but also make an impact to the experience of the customer. With India’s most powerful homegrown SUV, the Harrier.ev, we are pushing the benchmark even higher.

“The introduction of Dolby Atmos to the Harrier.ev gives our customers yet another reason to ‘Delete Impossible’. Now, every journey will not only be seamless, but also emotionally enjoyable, thanks to the combination of the Harrier.ev’s supercar-like performance and go anywhere capability with premium in-car entertainment powered by Dolby Atmos. We are excited about our collaboration with Dolby, and we will continue to bring unparalleled cutting-edge entertainment to our customers.”

In related news, Dolby has partnered with Indian SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra to introduce Dolby Atmos in the Mahindra Thar Roxx AX7L variant. This is the first time that four-channel immersive audio powered by Dolby Atmos has been integrated into a vehicle. Read the full story here
