Geely has successfully launched the fourth wave of Future Mobility Constellation satellites into orbit. All 11 satellites have now entered their planned low-earth orbits and are functioning normally, said Geely.

The Geely Future Mobility Constellation is independently built and operated by GeeSpace. which aims to create a global commercial satellite IoT communications network that will support future smart vehicle functionality as low-orbit satellite communications have become integral to intelligent connected vehicles.

With the latest launch, the number of satellites in the Geely Future Mobility Constellation has increased to 41. Over the next two months, further launches aim to raise the number of satellites deployed to 64. The first phase of deployments in the Geely Future Mobility Constellation is targeting 72 satellites. This is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

As a key component of Geely Holding’s integrated ground-space smart mobility ecosystem, GeeSpace will also leverage satellite IoT communications and high-precision positioning technologies to provide satellite data support for intelligent driving and intelligent connectivity functions, comprehensively enhancing vehicle safety and user experience. GeeSpace proprietary satellite communication chips and high-precision positioning modules have been successfully commercialized, Geely says, with vehicle-mounted satellite terminals and integrated positioning systems now in mass production and used in consumer and commercial vehicles.

In related news, SGS-TÜV Saar has awarded the world’s first certification for artificial intelligence (AI) safety process compliance under the new ISO/PAS 8800:2024 to Geely Auto, confirming that Geely’s safety process architecture meets the latest standard for AI systems in road vehicles.
