Faurecia, a Forvia Group company, has signed a long-term partnership with Mercedes-Benz Group to integrate its apps platform, developed in partnership with specialist Aptoide, into the German marque’s MBUX multimedia system.
Dr Ralf Drauz, MD of Faurecia Electronics in Germany, said, “With the Faurecia Aptoide Automotive App Store, we provide the best market-relevant content in the most standardized and efficient way to OEMs. Already today we are the largest automotive app distributor and are supporting the automotive industry by continually growing our ecosystem. We are excited to provide our apps solution to another great German brand.”
From 2023, the company will provide a customized app portfolio refreshed multiple times per year to enhance Mercedes user experience. The Faurecia Aptoide apps platform is stated to provide maximum security, privacy and control of content. As the centralized point of contact for a full and evolving app portfolio, it enables new business models with a variety of third parties and the upgradability of the system enables auto makers to bring new content and services online faster and in turn help increase vehicle lifetime by keeping the infotainment offer up to date.
