VinFast Auto launches Sony in-car entertainment service RideVu in VF 8 electric vehicle

VinFast Auto, a member of Vingroup, has integrated Sony Pictures Entertainment’s (SPE) online entertainment service RideVu into its VF 8 electric car in the USA. This collaboration makes VinFast the world’s first auto manufacturer to offer RideVu.

David Duncan, VP of sales and marketing at VinFast US, said, “We are thrilled to be the world’s first automobile manufacturer to officially launch RideVu, offering an engaging entertainment experience for our US customers. I believe that as a smart and green mobility solution, the VinFast VF 8 will deliver a convenient and enjoyable experience to customers wherever their journey takes them.”

RideVu will be offered as a complimentary service to US owners of the VF 8 as part of the VF Connect Prime package. Upon registration for the service, users will gain access to RideVu through over-the-air (OTA) software update version 9.6.1.11.

Developed by SPE, RideVu hosts a library of more than 2,000 movies, with users able to enjoy unlimited replays of up to 100 titles for 12 months (the selection will be regularly refreshed). Users are also able to access premium content.

Compatible with a range of platforms, including Android, iOS, Android TV, Apple TV, and Linux, RideVu offers content synchronization and streaming across multiple screens, including in-car displays and external devices. The Screen Manager feature on the central screen provides users with control over playback on all connected displays, with convenient parental controls accessible from the vehicle’s dashboard.

To ensure a safe in-car experience, drivers can only view movies via the RideVu on the central screen when the vehicle is parked, such as when charging or camping. But passengers have the flexibility to watch movies on their personal devices, such as smartphones and tablets, using the Screen Manager feature within the RideVu Companion app while the vehicle is in motion.

Pete Wood, SVP of digital sales of distribution at SPE, said, “Sony Pictures is excited to be working with VinFast for the debut of the RideVu service. We are confident that RideVu will redefine video entertainment for the automotive industry, beginning with a best-in-class experience for VinFast drivers and passengers.”

RideVu is anticipated to also be available on the VF 9 upon its delivery to the US market, with Canada to follow later this year.
