Nissan introduces vehicle-specific pet accessories

Nissan has launched a new series of pet accessories, driven by the expertise and passion of Rachel Edwards, Nissan’s senior planner of accessory product planning. Edwards, a devoted dog lover and volunteer with a Middle Tennessee dog rescue, has firsthand experience with the challenges of using generic car seat covers for her two dogs, Cooper and Charlie.

Edwards emphasized the importance of high-quality, vehicle-specific pet accessories: “They’re really helpful for protecting your seats from sharp toenails and drool.” She explained that her dissatisfaction with off-the-shelf covers, which often shift and fail to protect properly, motivated her to lead the development of Nissan’s new range of pet accessories.

The pet solutions are designed to fit the exact shape and layout of specific Nissan models, addressing common issues with generic covers. The new line includes a branded dog harness, pet seat protector, pet cargo area protector, pet carrier and pet ramp with a storage case. The seat protectors, for instance, have multiple panels and zippers to maintain the functionality of folding seats.

Edwards highlighted the customization: “Accessory engineering did a great job of customizing them to fit the seats and the cargo area.” The pet seat protectors are available for models including the Altima, Frontier, Pathfinder, Rogue, Sentra, and Infiniti QX60. Pet cargo area protectors are also available for the Murano, Pathfinder, Rogue, and Infiniti QX60.

The development of these solutions was inspired by concept vehicles like the X-Trail 4Dogs and the Rogue Dogue, according to Nissan.

“Not only am I a dog lover, but I also love our Nissan vehicles. It has been fun working on these products to bring genuine Nissan accessories to drivers who love to spoil their pets, all while protecting their Nissan or Infiniti vehicle,” Edwards added.
