Mobility service platform provider OBIGO has launched an AppStore dedicated to the Android Automotive OS (AAOS) to provide automotive OEMs with a configurable application distribution solution which enables region and model-specific releases.

The AppStore will feature a multitude of applications including music and video streaming, gaming, navigation and more. With the platform, OBIGO aims to become a leader within the mobility market by delivering driver-specific infotainment services.

Several global partners have already been secured by OBIGO, including Sygic, a navigation and location-based service provider; and DRiEV, a next-generation trip planning, route optimization and navigation solution for EVs. Additional partnerships are being explored as the company aims to expand its global network.

In addition to the AppStore, OBIGO will provide an app development experience through its open developer portal platform. This portal will deliver in-depth usage analytics and assist in the development, validation and distribution of applications.

“The automotive AppStore for AAOS represents OBIGO’s first step in becoming a global mobility service platform provider,” said David Do-yeon Hwang, CEO of OBIGO. “We plan to provide a variety of enjoyable services and experiences to drivers through the many applications provided by the AppStore. Our ultimate goal is to expand the AppStore into an all-encompassing service capable of meeting the many diverse needs of the autonomous vehicle market.”
