Fiat launches Grande Panda hybrid with sustainable materials and retro design

FIAT launches Grande Panda hybrid with sustainable materials and retro-inspired design.

Fiat has introduced the new Grande Panda hybrid, following the recent release of the fully electric version. The hybrid model emphasizes the use of sustainable materials and showcases cutting-edge technology. Three trims are available: Pop, Icon and La Prima.

Bamboo dash and recycled materials

The Grande Panda hybrid features a Bambox Bamboo Fiber Tex dashboard. Elsewhere in the vehicle, 140 recycled beverage cartons have been used, repurposing the non-recyclable layers into Lapolen Ecotek, a striking blue plastic with a shimmering aluminum finish, used throughout the interior.

Space conscious

The compact exterior conceals an unexpectedly roomy interior, boasting best-in-class shoulder width, modular storage and expressive design. The cabin’s Blu Tasmania color scheme is energized by bright yellow accents on the dashboard, infotainment area and seat stitching. There is a generous 412-liter trunk and smart storage solutions throughout the cabin, including a 13-liter dashboard storage space, three liters of which is a single compartment.

Pop, Icon and La Prima trims

The Pop trim features an infotainment system with 10.25in screen, cruise control and LED lighting technology at the front and rear. Also included are manual air-conditioning and rear parking sensors.

The Icon trim adds to the Pop trim, offering a higher level of comfort and personalization. It features roof rails and skid plates, a central armrest and privacy glass.

At the top of the range, the La Prima trim adds heated front seats and front and rear parking sensors with rearview camera. It also features high-quality fabrics, and Bambox Bamboo Fiber Tex dashboard.

Advanced driver assistance and connectivity services

All trims come equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including cruise control, speed limiter, active safety brake, lane-keeping assist, driver attention warning and open-door alerts. The La Prima trim enhances this with front sensors and a rearview camera.

Connectivity is supported through the onboard 10in digital cluster, 10.25in central touchscreen and wireless smartphone mirroring.

Fiat offers two service packages: Connect One, including emergency call, roadside assistance and vehicle health reports; and Connect Plus, which adds vehicle finder and other services to improve maintenance, such as vehicle information and vehicle health alert, available through the Fiat mobile app.

Modern tech meets retro style

The model sits on the Stellantis Smart Car platform, which supports hybrid and electric powertrains.

At the heart of this model lies the T-Gen3 hybrid powertrain, featuring a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering 110hp, combined with a 48V Li-ion battery and a sophisticated eDCT 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This system integrates a 21kW electric motor, an inverter and a central control unit.

The exterior design is a contemporary reinterpretation of the 1980s Panda, with its wedge-like profile and robust stance. Distinctive PXL LED headlamps evoke retro video games, while the cube-like tail lights and blacked-out pillars give the car a strong visual identity. Other details include 3D-branded, low-relief ‘PANDA’ lettering on the doors and ‘FIAT’ on the rear, a lenticular C-pillar graphic, and a glossy black bezel.

In related news, the Wyron truecycled yarn, made from 50% post-consumer textile waste and 50% recycled polyester, Nm 15, has been featured in the Lotus Cars Eletre and Emeya models
