Mercedes-Benz EQS range receives ‘fresh look’ and extended range capabilities

Mercedes-Benz has updated its EQS electric range for the year 2024. The new EQS model comes with several enhancements aimed at improving comfort, range and overall luxury.

Independent of model updates, these changes have been incorporated into the series for the EQS, EQE, EQS SUV and EQE SUV. The company says it has responded to market and customer feedback more quickly than ever before with numerous product upgrades.

A notable upgrade is the increased battery capacity, now ranging from 108.4 to 118kWh. This improvement extends the maximum range of the EQS 450+ to more than 800km, giving customers greater distance coverage without the need for frequent charging stops. An additional new feature automatically maintains the brake system by periodically applying the pads to the discs.

Aesthetically, the EQS has received a fresh look with a new radiator cover featuring chrome applications and an upright Mercedes star on the front hood, adding a touch of elegance to its design.

The interior has also been refined, with ventilation nozzles on the B-pillars featuring galvanized chrome frames, and the rear seats enhanced with additional cushioning and Nappa leather piping.

In terms of comfort, the EQS now offers an Extended Rear Luxury Lounge Pack option, providing passengers with a special slanted footrest for increased comfort during long journeys. This pack also includes features such as adjustable backrests, seat heating, neck and shoulder heating and pneumatic adjustment of seat depth.

Various technical upgrades have also been introduced to enhance the driving experience. These include the standardization of the MBUX Hyperscreen, heat pump technology for improved climate comfort and efficiency and updates to the braking system and recuperation level.

Over-the-air technology (OTA) updates have also been implemented for added convenience and functionality.

Additional benefits for EQS drivers include maintenance service as standard equipment, compatibility with the Keyless-Go comfort package and Digital Vehicle Key, and one year’s free electricity from Ionity charging stations.
