Hyundai Mobis’ roof airbag has been evaluated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The roof airbag is deployed under the surface side of the vehicle in a rollover accident, covering the roof in 0.08 seconds to prevent passengers being ejected through the sunroof.
The NHTSA is conducting a safety evaluation of the roof airbag.
The government agency gave a presentation in January on the ‘Status of NHTSA’s Roof Ejection Mitigation Research’, at the 2020 SAE Government/Industry Meeting hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), disclosing the results of the roof airbag.
