This week, Tesla will launch what the company describes as its “biggest software update ever” with new entertainment, gaming, music and convenience features.

Software Version 10.0 will include several long-anticipated functions for Tesla owners including being able to summon the car in an enclosed space or parking garage and the ability to link the vehicle’s infotainment system to a Netflix account. Features include:

Tesla Theater
Model S, Model X, and Model 3 center displays can be connected to Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu or Hulu + Live TV accounts to watch shows, movies and content while parked.

Smart Summon
With Smart Summon, customers who have purchased Full Self-Driving Capability or Enhanced Autopilot can enable their car to navigate a parking lot and come to them or their destination of choice, as long as their car is within their line of sight.

Karaoke
The new ‘Car-aoke’ feature comes with a massive library of music and song lyrics, with support for multiple languages.

Restaurants and destinations
Tesla’s ‘I’m Feeling Lucky’ and ‘I’m Feeling Hungry’ navigation features will lead drivers on an adventure to a local restaurant or point of interest that’s within the car’s range such as hole-in-the-wall restaurants, gourmet meals, national parks and city landmarks.

Music and podcasts
Tesla has expanded its music and audio platform to enable Spotify Premium account access in all supported markets. This will be in addition to Slacker Radio and TuneIn, which are also available in Tesla vehicles.

Tesla Arcade
Cuphead, Studio MDHR’s popular run-and-gun action game, is now available in the Tesla Arcade. Using a USB controller, single-player and co-op modes are available to play in the Tesla Edition of Cuphead, which includes the game’s full first level as you play as Cuphead or Mugman.

Security and convenience
To help make USB storage for its Dashcam and Sentry Mode features easier to manage, video clips taken while the vehicle is being protected by Sentry Mode will now be stored to a separate folder on a USB drive. Older clips will also be automatically deleted if low on storage.

Interested in user experience and over-the-air updates? The Future of Automotive Interiors Conference, hosted at Automotive Interiors Expo in Novi later this month, will have an entire session dedicated to the topic. Find the full program, as well as rates and booking information here.
