Volkswagen has launched an upgraded ID.3. The latest enhancements include a next-generation infotainment system, an improved operating concept and a more powerful electric drivetrain.

The new ID.3 has a revamped cockpit landscape with a larger touchscreen and a redesigned menu structure for enhanced user experience. The multifunction steering wheel and touch sliders have been upgraded for simplified operation and an IDA voice assistant, powered by natural language processing, has been introduced to upgrade the vehicle’s usability.

The driving mode selector has been removed from the housing for the Digital Cockpit and designed as a separate steering column switch – like in the ID.7, for example.

Now illuminated and ergonomically designed, the touch sliders are located under the infotainment system display and are used to control the interior temperatures and volume.

Another new feature is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) through ChatGPT.

A new Wellness App has been implemented to enhance the driving experience by using features such as background lighting, sound and air conditioning to promote well-being during journeys or breaks. With modes like Fresh Up, Calm Down and Power Break, drivers can customize their driving environment for maximum comfort.

An optional premium sound system is also available in the model. For audiophiles, the ID.3 Pro S presents an optional 480W sound system from Harman Kardon, providing high-quality audio with customizable sound settings for a personalized listening experience. The next-gen infotainment is also available in its all-electric compact class.

In terms of ADAS, the ID.3 Pro S comes standard with a range of modern assist systems, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assist. The Car2X traffic hazard alert function, offering real-time road information, comes as standard.

The model also features a more powerful electric motor, delivering up to 170kW of output for improved performance, With a combined WLTP range of up to 559km kilometers, the ID.3 offers both power and efficiency for an optimal driving experience. The vehicle also comes equipped with charging and thermal management functions, to provide quicker charging times during long-distance journeys. VW says it has a DC charging capacity of up to 175kW, coupled with battery pre-conditioning, so drivers can enjoy reduced charging times.

Imelda Labbé, member of the Volkswagen brand board of management responsible for sales, marketing and aftersales, said, “The ID.3 Pro S represents the consistent further development of our product portfolio based on the needs of our customers. For example, the model now has an improved e-route planner and the option of preconditioning the battery. These are functions that have already been very well received by drivers of the other ID. models.”

Pre-sales for the ID.3 Pro S model are now open, with additional variants set to be available shortly.
