BMW outlines new interior features for 2024 X5 and X6

Having redesigned the BMW X5 and X6 interior, the vehicles now benefit from the OEM’s Curved Display which consists of a 12.3in information display behind the steering wheel and a 14.9in control display, both located behind a single glass surface.

The touch control display reduces the number of buttons needed and provides a cleaner looking cabin, with the automatic climate system now operated by permanently displayed control graphics.

The new instrument cluster is covered in leather-like Sensafin to provide a premium feel, while the central air vents have been designed to be slim and integrated. For the BMW X5 M60i xDrive and BMW X6 M60i xDrive models, a curved trim element can be selected in a standard fine wood or a Fineline Black metal effect.

Also new is an ambient light bar with LED backlighting integrated below the trim element in the front passenger area. The relevant model lettering, either X5 or X6, has been added to the light bar’s graphic; in the OEM’s two flagship models, this displays the M logo. The light distribution, brightness and color for the interior illumination can be changed using the iDrive menu, alongside a range of other feature, such as the light bar signaling an incoming call with a dynamic chaser light.

With additional touch-sensitive surfaces, the model’s new center console control panel includes the iDrive Controller, Start/Stop button, electric parking brake and settings for optional air suspension and off-road modes. The center console also houses the Driving Experience Control buttons and the vehicle’s updated gear selector lever.

The standard front sport seats in the latest BMW X5 and X6 models are heated, feature lumbar support and offer electric adjustment options for height, seat angle, backrest angle and backrest width, including a memory function on the driver’s side. Additional cushioned knee pads on the sides of the center console feature for the X6.

Trimmed in Sensafin as standard, the seats can be upholstered in three colors. The high-quality, vegan material with quilting and perforation enhances seating comfort for occupants. Four BMW Individual Merino extended leather upholstery and three BMW Individual full Merino leather upholstery variants can be selected as optional extras, and active seat ventilation and massage functions can be optioned as part of the Comfort Plus Pack. This includes seat heating for the outer rear seats and a Heat Comfort package, which consists of a heated steering wheel, heated driver/front passenger door armrests and a heated center console. A “thermo” function also keeps drinks cool or warm in the cup holder as required.

Both models can be optioned with the Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof, with LED light spreading across the glass surfaces to illuminate more than 15,000 graphic patterns. A total of 16 speakers and a 415W amplifier deliver audio if the optional Harman Kardon surround sound system is selected. To further enhance the on-board audio experience, customers can select a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with 20 speakers and a 1,500W amplifier.
