Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group (SMRP), a Motherson company, and Valeo have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that aims to create new products for automotive interior use through the integration of lighting systems with advanced surface finishes.

Valeo’s lighting systems will be integrated with Motherson’s cabin interior modules and surfaces. Instrument panels, door panels, center consoles and other interior trims will be completely redesigned using these new technologies.

The companies hope that by combining advanced interior surfaces and lighting solutions, the partnership will create new functionalities and give the materials new properties.

Motherson is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of interior and exterior automotive components. The company, through its operating subsidiaries, specializes in the development and manufacture of visibility systems and highly integrated modules such as cockpits, door panels, and front and rear bumper modules.

Commenting on the partnership, Vivek Chaand Sehgal, chairman, Motherson Group, said, “Our entrepreneurial spirit pushes us to constantly innovate with our products. To do this, we recognize that we may need to seek new partnerships to add value for our customers. This exciting new collaboration, with our trusted partner Valeo, combines our modules and polymer products expertise with Valeo’s extensive technology experience to offer our customers class-leading interior integrated lighting solutions that meet the high expectations and demands of the consumers.”
