Tata Elxsi, a design and technology services company and Emerson, an automation company, have inaugurated the Tata Elxsi + NI Mobility Innovation Centre (TENMIC) in Bengaluru in India.

The facility integrates technologies and systems from Emerson’s test and measurement business with Tata Elxsi’s automotive engineering, data analytics and digitalization expertise. This collaboration provides solutions for SDVs, autonomous driving technologies and EV systems and batteries.

The launch event was attended by Manoj Raghavan, MD and CEO of Tata Elxsi; Ritu Favre, president of the test and measurement business group at Emerson; and Drita Roggenbuck, VP and GM of the transportation business unit at Emerson. Senior technology and R&D leaders from global OEMs, automotive suppliers and semiconductor companies were also present, highlighting the importance of the TENMIC collaboration.

The automotive industry is rapidly evolving with the advent of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and digital technologies. This demands new tech to develop, validate and release new features while ensuring reliability, safety and performance.

TENMIC aims to meet these demands by enabling OEMs to validate performance and functionality through a combination of virtual and physical testing before production. The companies say the center will focus on automation, agility and the use of data and AI methodologies in product development.

“India is becoming a global hub for next-generation automotive development, with global R&D centers from OEMs to silicon vendors,” said Shaju S, VP and head of the transportation business unit at Tata Elxsi.

He continued, “The shift in vehicle E/E architecture, electrification and connectivity is driving the need for advanced software development and testing capabilities. Bengaluru, where both Tata Elxsi and Emerson’s test and measurement business are headquartered in India, offers the combined global expertise of the two companies to the entire world and proximity to the R&D ecosystem in India.”

Shitendra Bhattacharya, director of Emerson’s test and measurement business, India and ASEAN, added, “Our partnership with Tata Elxsi to establish this mobility innovation center will enable rapid advances in automotive technologies and validation, driving the industry forward.”
