Škoda is broadening its digital offerings with the introduction of Pay to Fuel, a collaborative effort with partner Parkopedia that enables drivers to pay for fuel via their infotainment screen.

Pay to Fuel enhances the post-refuelling payment experience for Škoda drivers, enabling them to settle payments through the car’s infotainment system. Currently accessible in six European countries, the service aims to expand its coverage to include more countries and fuel stations in the near future. It is

To access Pay to Fuel, drivers can navigate through the in-car system, which lists supported stations. Upon selecting a station, the vehicle automatically identifies it upon arrival. The driver then uses the in-car app to confirm the petrol station and enter the pump number. Following refuelling, the infotainment screen displays the fuel amount, and payment is processed via debit or credit card, with all common cards accepted. The driver then receives a transaction notification in both the MyŠkoda app and on the vehicle screen before departing.

This service is compatible with all Škoda ICE vehicles equipped with Amundsen or Columbus infotainment systems. Users must have an up-to-date infotainment system with a touchscreen of 9.2in or larger, as well as an active Škoda Connect account with the Remote Access feature enabled.

Using the MyŠkoda smartphone app, users can enter and verify their payment card details, simplifying the Pay to Fuel process. The service is available across all Škoda ICE model series sold in European markets, and is facilitated through collaborations with Parkopedia, Mastercard, and the German FinTech company ryd.

Presently accessible in Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Pay to Fuel is set to expand to Portugal and Spain shortly, with plans underway for its introduction in the Czech market.

Markus Dohl, VP of sales and business development Europe at Parkopedia, said, “Drivers benefit from a seamless and secure payment process across all available services, accessed directly through the vehicle’s infotainment system, without having to leave the vehicle, use third-party mobile apps or re-enter payment details for each transaction.

“Pay to Fuel simplifies the process of fuel payments, making it just as convenient as our existing Pay to Park service which has been well received by Škoda customers since launch.”
