Audi says that it has placed a strong emphasis on interior comfort, materials and user experience alongside performance in its new SUV.
Conceived as a full-size SUV designed for family use, business travel and long-distance journeys, the Audi Q9 offers up to seven seats, access to the third row through electrically powered doors, and a large panoramic sunroof with switchable transparency. The vehicle also features a 4D audio system designed to create a more immersive in-car sound experience. The Q9 is scheduled to be unveiled on July 29, 2026.
“With the Q9, ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ is increasingly defined by the in-car experience,” said Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. “Cars have long been much more than just a means of transportation; they are mobile living spaces for our customers. Premium materials, variable seating with individual electric seats in the second row, and automatic doors underscore the commitment to quality in our new, large, full-size SUV.”
Seating design
The model is available in six-seat and seven-seat configurations. Up front, Audi says it focused on creating a lounge-like atmosphere with sports seat plus models featuring ventilation and massage functions. In the six-seat layout, the second row includes two electrically adjustable individual seats with integrated ventilation in the cushion and backrest. In the seven-seat version, all three second-row seats can accommodate child seats. All seats are partially power adjustable as standard, and the third-row seatbacks can be folded individually using electric controls.

Push-button door opening
All doors can be operated electrically using the key, the myAudi app, the MMI system, the brake pedal or the seatbelt buckle. The wide door opening angle is designed to improve entry and exit. The system also uses surround sensors with obstacle detection to prevent the door from opening if space is limited; they can also help detect approaching cyclists or other road users.
Panoramic sunroof
The standard panoramic sunroof in the Audi Q9 measures around 1.5m2 and can be opened fully. Drivers can switch any of the roof’s nine individually controllable glass segments between transparent and opaque settings for glare protection. The laminated glass is designed to reflect infrared light and block more than 99.5% of UV radiation, eliminating the need for a conventional blind.
Lighting and sound design
Contour lighting in the dashboard and doors is designed to emphasize the width of the interior. Illuminated front doors are standard; rear door illumination is optional. Indirect lighting beneath the Audi MMI panoramic display and center console creates a floating visual effect. The ambient light package plus also includes a dynamic interaction light – a full-width LED strip intended to support communication between occupants and vehicle systems.
Audi combines the interaction light with an updated Bang & Olufsen premium sound system featuring 4D audio. The interaction light can synchronize with music playback, adjusting lighting effects and colors to match the track. The system also includes headrest speakers for functions such as phone calls, navigation prompts and personalized surround sound.

Range of options
Audi says it has expanded its range of interior materials and finishes with new fabric and wood trim options, including wool-based upholstery with alpaca fiber, Dinamica microfiber, leather and leatherette combinations, and fine Nappa leather.
The interior features trim options including fine-grain ash natural in silk beige, lime structure natural and carbon-fiber weave with basalt gray accents. Color-coordinated cabin elements and the use of matt and textured materials in place of high-gloss surfaces are intended to create a more refined appearance while reducing visible fingerprints. Additional color options, including tamarind brown and stone beige, expand the range of interior finishes.
Generous storage and ample luggage space
As Audi’s largest SUV, the vehicle offers a generous amount of integrated storage. The redesigned center console provides two wireless charging pads compliant with the Qi2.2 standard, and USB-C charging ports delivering up to 100W. An aluminum rail system integrated into the sides of the trunk allows users to secure cargo in three dimensions with sliding hooks and adjustable anchors, leaving the floor space free for larger luggage.
